Casablanca Mohammed V Airport or port, your driver will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in the city. Depending on your arrival time and place, the first day’s schedule may change, but the overall activities and visits remain similar.
After breakfast, visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, the second largest religious building in the world that is open to non‑Muslims. Then drive to Rabat, the administrative capital of Morocco, where you visit the Kasbah of Oudayas, Hassan Tower with its unfinished minaret, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan II. In the afternoon, travel via Ouazzane and the foothills of the Rif Mountains to reach the blue-washed town of Chefchaouen, where you stay in a hotel or riad.
After breakfast, explore Chefchaouen, known as the blue city, with its clean, charming medina, restored kasbah, Plaza Uta el-Hammam, and steep narrow lanes lined with blue-and-white houses. You have time to meet locals, browse the souks, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere before leaving through the Rif Mountains toward the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with mosaics, basilica, temple, and triumphal arch. Continue to the holy town of Moulay Idriss and then to Meknes to see Bab Mansour Gate, the royal granaries, the Swani basin, and the old medina before driving on to Fes for the night in a riad.
After breakfast, meet your local Fes guide and start with the sites outside the old medina, including the Royal Palace gate and the Jewish quarter (Mellah), which dates back to the 14th century, as well as a ceramics cooperative to see traditional Moroccan crafts. Then enter the medina to visit key historical and cultural monuments such as Bou Inania Madrasa, Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate), Al Quaraouiyine Mosque (view from outside), Chouara Tanneries, Seffarine metalwork area, Attarine Madrasa, and Nejjarine Fountain. In the afternoon, drive up to the Merenid tombs for a panoramic view over the medina before returning to your riad.
After breakfast, travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, a clean, well‑kept town often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” because of its alpine style. Continue through the largest cedar forest in North Africa, home to Barbary macaques, where you can take photos and, if you wish, feed the monkeys, then drive on to Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, cross Talghomt Pass and reach the Ziz Valley for a superb panoramic view over palm groves and hidden oases, then continue toward Merzouga in the Sahara. On arrival, meet your camel guide and ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi to watch the sunset from a high dune before reaching your desert camp for dinner, Berber music by the fire, and a night under the stars.
Wake up early to watch what may be one of the most beautiful sunrises of your life over the dunes. After breakfast, start a 4×4 desert excursion around Merzouga to explore the different faces of the Sahara, including the seasonal lake of Merzouga, a haven for migratory birds, and a meeting with nomad families living in traditional tents where you share tea and learn about their lifestyle. Continue along tracks once used by the Paris–Dakar rally to visit the old Mifis mines, then head to Khamlia village, originally settled by families from Mali and Niger, to enjoy their Gnawa music and dance and taste a local Berber pizza for lunch. End the day by visiting a palm‑lined oasis on the edge of the dunes before returning to your hotel or riad.
After breakfast, leave the Sahara and drive to Rissani, once an important caravan center, where you may visit the lively weekly market if your travel day coincides with Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday. Continue to Erfoud, famous for its fossils and marble workshops where you can see how fossils are worked and polished, then drive through the towns of Mellab, Tinjdad, and Touroug to reach the green Todra Valley. Follow the road up to the towering Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon with 300‑meter cliffs, popular with rock climbers, and have lunch in the area. In the afternoon, continue to Dades Valley to admire the bizarre rock formations known as “monkey fingers” and traditional mud‑brick kasbahs, then check into your hotel overlooking the valley.
Today, travel through the Dades and Rose Valleys to El Kelaa M’Gouna (Rose Town), where around 400 tons of rose petals are harvested each spring for rosewater and perfume production and where the famous Rose Festival takes place each May. Continue through the palm groves and scattered kasbahs of Skoura toward Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” thanks to its major film studios, then head to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO‑listed ksar and one of the most photographed fortified villages in Morocco, where you have free time to explore and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (about 2,260 m), passing traditional Berber villages and mountain scenery before arriving in Marrakech in the evening and checking into your hotel or riad.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech, the “Red City,” focusing on its most important historical and cultural sites, including Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the vast traditional souk area. After lunch at a local restaurant near the main square, you can visit Koutoubia Mosque (from outside) and the Majorelle Garden before returning to your accommodation near Jemaa el‑Fna square, where you can experience the lively evening atmosphere.
After breakfast and at the appropriate time, transfer from your hotel in Marrakech to the airport (Marrakech or Casablanca, depending on your departure flight). Your driver will drop you off at the terminal and assist with timing so you can check in for your flight home, ending your 10‑day Morocco journey.
